Where SBV files come from
SBV is YouTube's own caption format — when you download captions from YouTube Studio (or exported your community captions back in the day), you get an .sbv file. It looks a lot like SRT but has no cue numbers, uses a comma between the start and end time on one line, and almost nothing outside YouTube reads it.
What the conversion does
Each caption gets a sequential cue number, the paired timestamp line becomes SRT's start --> end form with comma milliseconds, and SBV's [br] line-break markers become real line breaks. Timing and text are preserved exactly, so the converted file matches the YouTube captions frame for frame.
