Getting a transcript from subtitles
A subtitle file already contains every word that's spoken. It's just wrapped in line numbers and timestamps. This tool removes that timing scaffolding and gives you back the plain dialogue as a transcript you can read, search, translate or paste into a document. It works on SubRip (.srt), WebVTT (.vtt) and Advanced SubStation (.ass) files.
One line per cue vs. paragraph
One line per cue keeps the transcript close to the original subtitle, with each caption on its own line, handy when you still care about the structure. Paragraph reflows everything into continuous prose, which reads more naturally and is better for pasting into an article or feeding to a translator.
Cleaning up the text
Remove formatting tags strips styling such as <i> italics so the
transcript is clean. Drop repeated lines removes consecutive duplicate captions.
Some subtitles repeat a line across two cues to hold it on screen, which you usually don't want in a
transcript. To strip sound effects and speaker labels too, run the file through the
cleanup tool first.
