Terms of Service

These terms are short because the service is simple. Free tools that process subtitle files on your own device. Using subalign.com means you agree to what follows.

Last updated: July 6, 2026

1. What the service is

SubAlign is a collection of free, browser-based utilities for working with subtitle files. It syncs, converts, retimes, repairs, edits, merges and cleans up formats such as SRT, VTT and ASS/SSA. All processing happens locally in your browser. We never receive, store or transmit the files you work on, because there is no upload and no account. This also means we cannot recover a file for you. If you close the tab before downloading your result, the work is gone.

2. It's free

Every tool on this site is free to use, for personal and commercial work alike. There is no premium tier, no locked feature and no usage limit. The site is supported by advertising, which is what keeps it free.

3. Your content and your responsibility

The subtitle files you process remain entirely yours. Because they never reach us, we claim no rights over them of any kind.

In return, you are responsible for the content you work with. You agree to use the tools only with material you have the right to use, meaning your own subtitles, files distributed under an open licence, or content you are otherwise permitted to modify. Subtitle files can be protected by copyright just like any other creative work; whether you are allowed to edit or redistribute a particular file is between you and the rights holder, and SubAlign takes no part in that.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • attempt to disrupt, overload or interfere with the site or the ad and analytics services it uses;
  • scrape, redistribute or republish the site's written content (guides, explanations, FAQs) as your own;
  • use the site in any way that violates applicable law.

There is no restriction on how often you use the tools or what you build with the output. Batch away.

5. No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Subtitle formats are messy in the wild, and while we test against a wide range of real files, we cannot promise that every conversion or repair will be perfect for every file. Always keep your original file and check the output. The preview on each tool page exists for exactly this reason.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SubAlign and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including lost data, lost time or a subtitle file that didn't convert the way you hoped. Since the service is free and your files never leave your device, your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using it (though we'd rather you told us what went wrong so we can fix it).

7. Third-party services

The site displays advertising through Google AdSense and measures anonymous usage with cookieless analytics. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies; how they handle data is described in our privacy policy. Ads are clearly distinguishable from the site's own content, and we do not endorse the products advertised.

8. Our content

The site's design, code, guides and written explanations belong to SubAlign. You are welcome to link to any page, quote short excerpts with attribution, and of course use the tools' output freely. The subtitles you download are yours, not ours.

9. Changes to the service or these terms

We may add, change or retire tools at any time, since the site is actively developed. We may also update these terms; when we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will make it noticeable rather than bury it.
